We are the only Child generation. Although we solved the food and shelter problem and directly soar to well-off live, in spirit, the communist ideal went bankrupt, it looks as if individual dream too remote, the thought is chaotic frequently. I have two kinds of creations in this period. One kind work is concerned to the self-innermost feelings which related the light: In silent night, I walk a lonely way, which is no begin and no end. Night is silent; night is dark, night is confusion. I have gradually had interest in the night light-----which without the rule, but colorfully, filled with infinite possibly and confused. We live in such dynamic, information flourishing, economical inflation, individual lose time. The time fast development makes one feel frequently in psychological illness, the self-uncertainty is filling the air in this tense world.
Another kind work: The theme has carried on a change, but from some extent may say it is on the stage extension, the people life under the tranquil all often hide the danger, I started to attempt some magnificent scenes, the attention not merely was the self-feeling. Those dilapidated, provocative, cruelly violent scenes often touch and convulse me. All those tempt me to have risk on the canvas.
My creation is emotional, I like the effects which are faker than the real, or truer than the false, are usually to be used in the displaying aspects. I like the thing between real and unreal. It can be use “curely and happily” describe the creation process. I believe every artist have actual experience which feel as if have another love today and forever.
我们是独生一代,虽然已经解决温饱直奔小康,但精神方面,共产主义理想破产了,个人梦想似乎又太遥远,思想常常混乱。这段时期的创作分两类,一类是关注自我内心感受的与光有关的作品:静寂的黑夜里,独行,没有起点,也没有终点,夜--是静的,夜--是黑的,夜--是迷茫的。渐渐的我对夜晚的光产生了兴趣--那些没有规则、五颜六色、充满了无限可能却又让人迷茫的光...... 我们生活在这样活力四射,咨讯发达,经济膨胀,个性迷失的时代。时代的快速发展常常令人感到心理上的不适,自我的不确定性弥漫着这个紧张的世界。
第二类的创作,题材上进行了些变化,但从某个方面可以说是上个阶段的延续,人们看似平静的生活背后都时刻潜藏着危险,我开始尝试一些大场面的作品,关注点已经不仅仅是自我感受。那些破败的、刺激的、残酷暴力场面,常常打动着我,震撼着我,诱使着我不断在画布上历险。
我的创作是情绪化的,画面方面喜欢比“真”的“假”,比“假”的“真”的效果,我喜欢介于现实与非现实之间的东西,用“痛并快乐着”来形容创作的过程,相信每一位画者都会有切实的体验,那种感觉就像我们又经历了另一种爱情并相伴终生。

Blurred and illusionary nights, formless silhouettes in no position, ambiguous and lonely tints have built poetic situation, which is dizzily, stifling or relating to “right and violence”, “consumption and youth”.
In the eyes of artists, the world is so perplexed and so untrue. Maybe they can find the reality of the world and the real world in their hearts only through their paintings. This is a straightforward portrayal method.
Qilin has not employed any other novel method to dazzle people’s eyes. Artists have no choice but to make use of the non-diagram method, which is the most sincere and realest way as well.
It offers freer space for artists to express their own feelings more directly. Thus they can grasp and express their real innermost feelings to the world more accurately.
To this sincere and free expressing choice, artists are not under the influence of painstakingly discriminating current paintings in vogue. This is completely from their non-strategy self-presenting wishes. And also because of this “clumsy” but sincere wishes, artists have successfully presented themselves and poetic situation of confused reality, through their paintings.
左奇霖------迷乱现实的诗意情境
迷离梦幻的夜光、无从无定的身影、暧昧又孤寂的色彩,营造出了令人眩晕、窒息亦或是向往的有关“权利与暴力”“消费与青春”的诗意情境。
在艺术家眼中,世界如此迷乱、如此的不真实,也许只有通过绘画才能寻得世界的真实、寻得艺术家心中的真实世界。这是一种直呈式的写照方式,奇霖并没有用什么新奇的手法或图式来夺人耳目。非“图式化”选择可以说是艺术家没有选择的选择,也是艺术家最真诚、最真实的选择。它给了艺术家更直接表达个人情感观念的自由空间。由此也才能更为准确更极至的把握和表达世界在艺术家内心的真实质感,对于这种真诚自在的表达方式的选择,艺术家并非处于刻意的排斥当前流行图式的影响,这完全出于艺术家非策略的自我呈现的愿望,也正因这“笨拙”但真切的愿望,艺术家成功的用绘画的方式呈现了自我,呈现了迷乱现实的诗意情境……
